First of all, if you're reading this, thanks so much for visiting my gallery! I hope you enjoy viewing my collection of photos, as much I have had taking them. I'm constantly snapping and adding new pictures, so be sure to check back often for new stuff. And if there's something you're looking for that you don't see here, shoot me an email — I have a ton of images that I just haven't gotten around to uploading yet, so I may have what you're looking for.
A little bit about me ... I'm an Emmy-award winning producer for ESPN. That's my day job. Photography is my passion project — or my side gig, if you will. The reason I want you to know that, is this: I'm here because I want to be. I love photography, I have a passion for exploring the world, and I want to share my journeys with you. Chefs will tell you that they cook with love. The same is true for my photography. Each picture has a piece of my heart, and probably has a story behind it.
I currently live in Hermosa Beach, California — a cool little beach town outside the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles. But I grew up in the mountains of Colorado, in a town called Vail — where my dad was a ski instructor, and my mom was busy chasing me around. My career path was basically set when I was 5-years old. My parents took me on my first big vacation to Southern California where we visited Disneyland (of course) and Universal Studios. Disneyland was fun, but Universal Studios opened my eyes. I instantly fell in love with the world of cameras and lights.
Throughout my childhood, I'd regularly steal ... "borrow" ... my parents' camcorder and Minolta snap-shop camera (I'm pretty sure they knew all along). I made countless little movies and took pictures-galore of Molly, my Border Collie. My goofy little movies continued to fuel my passion, and Molly probably became the most photographed little dog in the Rocky Mountains.
While studying Journalism at the University of Colorado at Boulder, I wrote for local newspapers, anchored news and traffic reports on Newsradio 850 KOA in Denver, and began producing local news for KCNC-TV, the CBS affiliate in Denver. After college, I moved to LA where again I worked in local news, and then moved to sports — landing at NFL Network, FOX Sports, and then ESPN.
So far, my journeys have taken me to 46 states and all but one continent. (Vermont, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Alaska, and Africa ... I'm coming for you!) Though it's hard to choose favorites, Australia and New Zealand are probably my favorite countries outside the US. Stateside, it's a 50-50 toss up between Colorado and California. I've lived half my life in each place and they're both awesome. The most unique place I've ever been was Antarctica. It's the closet you'll come to visiting another world, without leaving Planet Earth. Though I love Mexican food, the best food I've ever had was in France and Switzerland.
I love photographing anything furry, but my favorites are landscapes. Plain and simple. I'm particularly a sucker for beaches and mountains (shocker!) but I've managed to find beauty in the most unexpected places. You just have to explore, and keep your eyes open. I shoot on a Canon 5D Mark IV. (I love Canon products, and think their lenses are beautiful). Definitely a step up from the Minolta that I kept "borrowing" from under my parents' bed.
I'm a resident artist at the Resin Gallery in Hermosa Beach, CA. I also participate in various art shows around the country.
